Miracle on the Hudson

Welcome to the official Miracle on the Hudson book web site.

On January 15th, 2009 our lives were forever linked together when our flight from New York’s LaGuardia airport to Charlotte, NC crashed into the Hudson River minutes after takeoff.   Over the past months we have all been asked a universal series of questions that goes something like this:

Were you scared?
Did you know you were going to crash?
Did you pray?
What did you think about when you thought you were going to die?
Were people panicked or calm?
What did the impact feel like?
What was it like when the fuselage began to fill with water and most passengers were not out?
How has your life changed as a result and knowing what you know now, would you go through it again?

With the realization that we had a story to tell from the passenger’s perspective, we worked with writers William Prochnau and Laura Parker to capture interviews with every passenger we could find.   In some cases, the responses are eerily similar – in some cases, very different.   After speaking with 120 of the 150 passengers aboard that day, this book chronicles not just the events as they happened, but the thoughts, prayers and emotions of those who lived it in an attempt to answer those universal questions.

We ask that you explore our site and learn more about our book, read some excerpts, and of course, order the book to learn more about what we experienced that day.

Thank you for visiting and we hope you enjoy our collaborative effort.

All the Best,
The Passengers of US Airways Flight 1549, January 15, 2009
